The Easter Dress

We were given this cute dress for Easter for Miss Mia. I love it and even got her pictures taken in it, which I will post later. Yesterday Kade took her to church while I stayed home with Brooks. When Kade got there two other little girls had the same dress on. Thanks to Karen for getting the picture of Elsie, Mia, and Lydia. I love that Costco is such an awesome place to shop :)

Richard Brooks Nichol

Our little boy is here! He was born April 14, 2011 @ 4:30pm. He was 7 lbs 13 oz, 20 1/2 inches long. We are so happy that he is here. He is named after his father and grandfather. We are going to call him Brooks, just like Richard Kade goes by Kade. I swore I would never in a million years name my kid Richard and call him something else. Its amazing how you change your mind on certain things. I hope one day he knows what a honor it is to be named after two incredible men.

Here is the story.... I was due on April 13th, Kade was working out of state over the last five months so in order to have him here I asked my doctor if I could be induced on the 14th. I am really weird about dates and when my kids birthdays are. I had all these days I didn't want and I got what I wanted on both kids, lucky me :) Anyways Kade did get transferred back to Salt Lake the week Brooks was born, I am so grateful to have him here with us. So I went in on the 14th at 8am to get induced. My nurse was training another nurse so everything took twice as long, which was ok because it was nice to have two nurses helping with everything. They were awesome, their names were Julie and Julie haha. So they finally got everything going and then about an hour after the pitocin started I asked for my epidural. I didn't want to be in pain so I got it early. They put it in and then left. After about 15 minutes my left leg wasn't numb and I started feeling contractions. They hurt and it was really weird to feel them on one side and not the other. They got it fixed after about an hour and a half and then I fell asleep about an hour and a half later I woke up and felt like it was time to push. I was at a 9 so they called my doctor up. I pushed for about twenty minutes and then Brooks was here. We actually didn't have a name at that point. He came out screaming his guts out. When they put him on me he looked like Mia's twin, he stopped screaming when I started talking to him and it was so awesome to know that he really knows me. It was really crazy to be looking at him and know that he wasn't Mia. They took him and weighed him and did all his tests he passed with flying colors. Then they brought him to me and he was perfect. He nursed right away and was great at it, different from Mia. Then Kade was holding him and said his name is Richard Brooks. We had talked about this name before but we had taken it off the list. It was in my top three so I was so glad that he brought it back. Brooks is after...yep if you know me at all you know I have an obsession with Garth Brooks that can't be explained. Garth is the reason that Kade and I are together so I thought it would be appropriate to name our son after him. It was amazing to have so much love for him right away, I wasn't sure how it was going to go loving two kids but it was as easy as loving the first one. Mia came by that night and she was in love with Brooks immediately. She loves him so much and gives him kisses and hugs as much as we will let her. We had many visitors in the hospital and appreciate all the love and support that our family and friends brought to us.

Brooks is a really good baby, he eats well, sleeps well, and is so fun to watch he is happy all the time. We were also very excited that Hunter came home the same week that Brooks was born and was able to meet his two cousins on our side. We have had fun this past week and a half with the two babies. There is a picture below of Brooks sucking on Kade's nose. I was coming to feed him but wasn't quite fast enough and that is what ended up happening, so funny. We love Brooks so much and look forward to our time watching him grow and learn. We are also happy that Mia is doing so well with the transition. I am so blessed to be the mother of these two beautiful children, and so lucky to have Kade by my side to help me.

Kade's Home :)

For the past almost 5 months Kade has been working in Nevada Monday - Thursday. It was a great opportunity for our family and Kade has been gone before out of state for work I knew we could handle the sacrifice. I am so grateful that Kade has a good job and works for a good company but I was starting to get nervous about having a new born and no help during the week with Mia and working full time. I wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish it all, however I felt at peace about it and knew it would all work out. Well on Thursday Kade was told he was being transferred back up to Salt Lake and that he would be working downtown. I was so happy I almost cried. We have missed him a lot these past months but I think he has missed seeing us more especially that cute daughter of his that loves him more than words can describe. I can't even imagine having a husband in the service, all you wife's and mothers out there that do I give you big props. I would like to thank you and your husbands for all the sacrifice you give our country. I so happy that Kade will be here in Utah at least if I go into labor since I am due on Wednesday, if not I am being induced on Thursday :) So glad to have my love back oh how I have missed you and your sarcastic personality, which is the reason for this lovely picture and also because I love when he has this facial hair. Love you baby, and I am so excited for our son to be born and have someone just like his amazing father.

The Mia

Ryan and Lola came and stayed with us over conference weekend because they had to be up here Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so we got to play. It was so fun. Mia loved it :) She snuggled with them both mornings. I am so lucky that we have such awesome relationships with our families. Thanks Ryan and Lola for the fun weekend. We love you.
